Fostering a creative environment for your employees is relevant for many industries, and Inc.com has a great blog post on some of the elements that can help create an atmosphere that encourages creativity! To read the full article, you can visit this link, but we’ve decided to share a few of their suggestions below.
Let employees get personal!
Encourage your employees to bring in personal items to work! And not just family photos — any items that have an emotional connection. If the work-space can be modified to allow employees to bring their pets, then great! This may be a small cost but provides instant benefits. Not only does this brighten up a dull office but it lets your team be themselves and really create more of a “community” setting. They will tend to be more comfortable – which of course encourages innovation and creativity. Also, this sense of community will build an environment of trust, so people will take more risks and produce more creative ideas!
Use greenery and games
Adding plants and more light are small changes that pay big dividends. Studies show that natural light has beneficial health effects, and can boost creativity. And let’s not forget about games! A ping pong table can be am excellent way to give the mind a break and allow employees a chance to use a different part of their brain for a few minutes. The same holds true for any other game table that requires a tiny bit of physical ability to play. Get away from the monitor every now and then!
Zoning isn’t just for cities
Cities and restaurants have zones. Why not offices? Arrange the office in a way where you have places for intense concentration, places for work collaboration, and places for non-related chat. Cubicles are fine for privacy and concentration, but it’s important to encourage interaction as well. Something as simple as Having two couches and a table make for a great “hub” for much needed socialization and brainstorming.
