Overview
Dynamic, full-service furniture dealership seeking a motivated Designer to join our team. The Designer position is responsible for the development and production of furniture drawings and specifications for pricing, order entry, and installation purposes.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Consulting with Sales Team to determine customers’ furniture needs, and develops solutions to meet those needs
- Visits client spaces to perform field verification and/or inventory, and to confirm as-built drawings accurately represent what exists in the field
- Performs programming and furniture selection
- Prepares schematic designs, space planning, product pricing, finish schemes, installation drawings, and as-built drawings
- Offers technical input on proposed design solutions by developing extensive knowledge-base of furniture lines’ specifications, features, and options
- Creates presentation boards and/or sales tools as needed
- Assists Sales and Project Management Team in developing project schedule and installation sequences
- Validates furniture plans against architectural and engineering construction drawings to ensure accuracy and feasibility
- Assists with preparation of bid responses by obtaining quotes, organizing bid information, and preparing pricing
- Tracks and records design hours to specific projects for job costing purposes
- Participates in reviewing punch list items and post-occupancy customer surveys
- Answers both routine and highly specialized questions regarding furniture systems
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, plus 5 years of industry experience
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD
- Furniture dealership experience is preferred, but not a requirement
- Must be highly detail-oriented with good problem-solving skills
- Must possess organizational skills and flexibility to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in leading and collaborating with teams through all phases of projects, from programming through space planning and design
- Must be able to work well under pressure while still demonstrating professionalism and integrity
